Carmelle Beaugelin Caldwell

 

Carmelle Beaugelin Caldwell (b. 1991, Miami, FL) is an interdisciplinary artist and visual theologian whose work explores ancestral memory, sacred imagination, and cultural migration. Her practice is informed by Haitian art traditions and theopoetics.

Her current primary medium is painting.

Carmelle earned a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts from Southeastern University. In 2018, she founded BeauFolio Studio, the platform through which she produces independent exhibitions, commissions, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her work has been exhibited and commissioned by institutions including Interfaith America, Flagler College, Duke Divinity School, and A Sanctified Art.

Carmelle lives and works in Princeton, New Jersey. She currently serves as Associate Director of the Missing Voices Project at Flagler College’s Center for Religion and Culture (Saint Augustine, FL) and serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for Artworks Trenton (Trenton, NJ). She is the recipient of the 2025–2026 Artist Residency at the Overseas Missions Study Center (OMSC) at Princeton Theological Seminary (Princeton, NJ).
